Over the past two decades Siduri has established itself as one of America’s most important producers of Pinot Noir. The winery was founded by Adam and Dianna Novy Lee, two Texas wine lovers who moved to California’s Sonoma County to pursue their dream of making Pinot Noir. They spent several years working at small, family-owned wineries before launching Siduri in 1994. Their first release, and nearly everything since then, has been met with great critical success.
Today, Siduri makes single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from 20 individual sites stretching from Santa Barbara to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. In pursuit of quality, Adam and Dianna work closely with vineyard owners to establish specific viticulture practices – trellising, canopy management, shoot and cluster thinning, etc. — for their select blocks. They also purchase their grapes by the acre rather than by the ton to ensure reduced yields, which leads to greater concentration and complexity in the wines.
Every Siduri Pinot Noir is vinified separately by vineyard, block, lot, clone, yeast and barrel cooper. Each wine is blended personally by the Lees, and bottled unfiltered and unfined to preserve the distinct character of each vineyard site.
With the acquisition of Siduri by Jackson Family Wines in January 2015, the Lees gained access to dozens of additional world-class Pinot Noir sites. The partnership with Jackson Family Wines allows Adam and Dianna to devote more of their time to their two great passions: family and winemaking.
